National Lottery Funded - Awards for all

Part 2 - Befriending Service

A big thank you to Awards4All and The National Lottery. Thanks to their grant,  Sheffield Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus is now able to offer a volunteer Befriending Service.

We can offer free training and support for our very own members. We want to give our adult members the confidence to network and increase their independence in the process.

We want the parents of the babies born with Spina Bifida, in Sheffield and anyone with an 'S' postcode, to know they are not alone. There is support and information that can help ease the stress and worry about what the future holds for them.

We understand that every child is different but recognise how important experience sharing is.

We want the teenagers with Spina Bifida and/or Hydrocephalus to know, they can make deep and lasting friendships with other teenagers who truly understand what they are going through.

We have the means to support and encourage each other. We are working towards combating isolation.

In 2019 there is a chance for our members to take a leisurely canal boat trip (all free of charge) courtesy of 'The Ethel Trust' in Sheffield. We will be in touch for you to come abroad and help steer the boat. The dates will be published soon and the boat is fully adapted for wheelchair users. If you are interested or just want to know more, please call or text us on 07752665411.
